Walter Huston
Board Member
Walter Huston is the Executive Director of The Phoenix Project: Community Development Foundation and serves on its board of directors. Before assuming the position of Executive
Director in May 1995, Walter served in the United States Navy and operated a video rental business in Fayette, MS.
Walter has worked in local government positions as City Planner, Land Use Planner, Economic Developer and County Administrator. He is skilled in grant writing, nonprofit program management & administration. Walter’s primary focus is community and economic revitalization in Southwest Mississippi communities.
Walter earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Southern Mississippi,
where he was an Honor Student (1986), he appeared in the 1985 edition of Who’s Who in
American Colleges and Universities.
He is a graduate of The University of Southern
Mississippi New South Economic Development Course (1998), he also is a graduate of KELLOGG PRO-MS Leadership Training Program (1991-1992), this program was designed to identify and train community residents to become community leaders in Mississippi.
